Do's and Don'ts in SIngapore

DO
  1. Try Hawker Food, it's clean and good.
  2. Always bring tissue napkins with you because they don't give tissue napkins in hawker centers.
  3. Some of the best places to change your money is at Little India or Chinatown; they have the best rates. But if this is too much of hassle, there are many money changers all around. Apart from banks and hotels, money can be changed wherever the sign "Licensed Money Changer" is displayed.
  4. Use your right hand when passing something to Malays and Indians and use only your right hand when dining with them because the left hand is considered unclean.
  5. Remember that Singaporeans are right hand drivers so traffic flow is opposite. Always look to your left and to your right before crossing the street.
  6. Try picking up some Singlish to get the best bargains in Singapore. Here’s a Guide to understanding Singapore’s local slang.

DON'T
  1. You know Singapore to be clean and green so do not litter.
  2. You heard it before and this is a reminder- chewing gum and selling gum are not allowed.
  3. Many public areas prohibit smoking. Make sure you check before you light up.
  4. To avoid custom penalties, do not bring cigarettes into Singapore.
